This module equips facilitators with the practical skills and strategies needed to create engaging, interactive, and outcomes‑driven online learning experiences.

Through a focus on presence, communication, platform mastery, and learner engagement techniques, participants will learn how to manage virtual classrooms effectively, build connection across distance, and maintain high levels of participation and learning impact. By the end of this module, facilitators will be able to confidently plan, deliver, and evaluate live online sessions that support diverse learners and align with IFC’s global facilitation standards.

Course Content

Introduction
The purpose of this session is to prepare you for the 8-session course that you are about to begin. We want to make sure that you know what to expect and how to use the resources available to you. We also want to make sure you have done everything you need to do by the time class starts. That way, we are all starting from the same point of knowledge.

Session 1
Session 1 introduces the course and sets the foundation for all upcoming modules. It begins with Module 1: Course Introduction, which provides an overview of the full qualification, the purpose of each module, and how the learning journey is structured. The session then moves into Module 2: Preparing the Learning Environment, focusing on the key considerations, tools, and conditions required to create an effective, safe, and engaging learning space.

Session 2
This session focuses on effective facilitation techniques for both online and in-person learning environments. ​ Participants explore the Learning Cycle, including its four phases: Motivate Me (GLOSS), Teach Me (EASE), Help Me (FEED), and Prepare Me (OFF). ​ Key topics include introducing and presenting content, engaging participants, and using activities to enhance learning. ​ The session emphasizes the importance of motivating learners, presenting content effectively, and utilizing interactive, non-lecture activities to check progress, practice skills, and measure achievement. ​ Participants also complete hands-on activities, review evidence indicators, and prepare for peer feedback to refine their facilitation skills.

Session 3
In this session we discuss one of the hardest aspects of accelerated learning:  Asking questions that help enlighten participants.

Session 4
We are about to use your enhanced understanding of both GLOSS and EASE to talk about the video assignment.
